Diving into the intricate details of our unforgettable Mexico wedding, we're thrilled to unveil how each little element contributed to the enchantment of our special day. From thoughtful welcome gifts to unique reception touches, here's a peek into the meticulous planning that made our celebration truly one-of-a-kind.
Let's kick things off with our Welcome Gifts, thoughtfully curated to ensure our guests felt pampered and ready for their stay in Mexico. Sunblock, ibuprofen, snacks, gel eye masks, koozies, and liquid IV were among the essentials included, alongside a custom card featuring a warm welcome, thank-you note, and our wedding week itinerary. Housed in burlap bags that doubled as chic totes, it was heartwarming to see our guests sporting them around the resort and even on our wedding day, adding both style and functionality to their stay.
During our ceremony, guests were treated to water and custom sunglasses featuring our wedding hashtag: #ohmahbulai. Our hashtag deserves its own blog post for a proper explanation, so be sure to stay tuned for that! We also distributed wooden fans as a nod to Filipino Wedding Tradition. We also did a rose petal toss for our recessional - singing to Higher Love by Kygo & Whitney Houston!
Now, when it comes to flowers and decorations, I made a conscious decision to keep things minimal. I wanted to ensure our guests could fully immerse themselves in the breathtaking backdrop of the clear blue sky and the shimmering ocean beyond the horizon. We also opted for an unconventional request, asking all our guests to wear white to our wedding. This departure from traditional wedding norms was brilliant, as not only did our guests get to stay cool in the hot sun, but our photos exuded a cohesive elegance reminiscent of a travel magazine spread.
As for the reception, we went the extra mile with custom luggage tags doubling as escort cards. Rather than simply listing names and table numbers, Dan and I decided to name each of our tables after our favorite TV Show & Movie Locations. We are avid binge watchers - no seriously, we binge watched seasons 1-7 of Game of Thrones in 2.5 weeks! Guests embarked on a whimsical journey as they navigated their way to their destinations, where they were greeted with a scavenger hunt & disposable cameras to add an extra layer of fun to the festivities. And for a cost-efficient yet elegant touch, we repurposed my bridesmaids' bouquets as centerpieces.
We also had a basket filled with pashminas for the ladies, ensuring they stayed cozy as the ocean breeze rolled in during the evening. Though, truth be told, we were all too busy tearing up the dance floor to notice the chill, especially since my husband's brilliant idea of an LED dance floor stole the show!
